Cuba Gooding, Jr. Set to star in Hero Wanted
Cuba Gooding Jr. is set to star in Millennium Films’ HERO WANTED announced Co-Chairmen Avi Lerner and Danny Dimbort.
The film, which starts shooting this April in Bulgaria, marks Brian Smrz’ directorial debut. It is produced by Richard Salvatore (Homeland Security, Blonde Ambition), Johnny Martin (End Game) and David Ornston (Blonde Ambition). Executive producers are Millennium’s Trevor Short and Boaz Davidson.
Smrz, 2nd unit director on such blockbusters as Superman Returns, X Men and Die Hard 4 was lured into the independent world with Hero Wanted. “I was very impressed by Smrz’ creative vision,” says producer Martin, “and felt he would bring real style to this project.” After being courted by the studios (and me) for years to direct his first feature, he has finally found the right vehicle.”
The story centers on a garbage collector who stages a bank robbery so he can be the hero and stop it in order to impress a girl who works at the bank. When the plan goes awry, he seeks revenge against the double crossers.
Gooding appears with Eddie Murphy in Norbit and in Ridley Scott’s upcoming American Gangster with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.
